Ok, leave it to me to be the Voice of Dissent - heck, it won't be the first time.

In my opinion, we should all separate, in our minds, our thoughts and sharing of ideas on this board from our purchasing needs/wants on e-Bay. I don't think any of us should hold it against one another if we should decide to bid. e-Bay is a fair and open market. If someone wants to be courteous and refrain from bidding, then that certainly makes then a nice person. But to have a group concensus of the "expectation", then that isn't right either.

Why don't we just not discuss Chambers e-Bay bidding in this forum and share our stove usage/restoration ideas instead? Might be a good practice, anyway, because like someone said in an earlier post, when we were discussing bidding on the red stove, what if that person joins our 'Board (which is entirely likely), and then goes back and reads a less-than-nice post about it? That just wouldn't be cool .....

I agree with Lori, I want to know others ebay id so that I can choose whether to bid or not. I am not asking anyone to not bid against me, but I am stating that I would prefer to not bid against anyone on this forum. I am not attempting to control anyone except myself. I look at it like we are all in the same room bidding at a live auction. If I saw one of my friends bidding on an item, I would not bid against them. If you choose not to do that, if you choose not to reveal your ebay id, so be it. I still count you as a Chamber pal.

I would like to know the Ebay ID of other Board members so I can decide if I want to bid on something that another board member is bidding on. I may decide that I don't want that item at that time, if I know the bidder. I do the same thing with my friends.

I don't want to drive up the price of an object by bidding against a board member when I don't have to have that item right now. A seller might not like that, but when I sell items on ebay, I don't list them for any less than I am willing to take for that item.

    Again, it's a personal choice.

that all being said, it'd probably be a bit uncool for someone to post "New Chambers on Ebay -- don't bid on it 'cause I want it!!!"

As a matter of protocol, if the info is posted in this public forum, I think it's fair game for any of us to choose whether or not to bid (or to opt not to put a competing product up until the auction is over).

It's not illegal to opt not to bid on an item that you know a friend is pursuing, so that's perfectly kosher.

It's also not illegal for someone to post an fyi that he/she is putting a Thermobaker on ebay, and for someone else to opt not to put theirs on yet so as not to compete, based on that publicly-available information.

Hello, I just put in a bid on the 2 triple pots that have been on ebay several days. The last time I looked I saw (I think) Dreamcatcher had bid. Now I think that is Lori but even if not I know she/he is one of us. Please let me know if you were still in the running - a stranger was the high bidder this morning so I went ahead and "put in". I imagine that dreamcatcher is no longer interested but I would like to make sure - personal choice!

    Thanks all,

    Phoebe

    Phoebe,

I was watching those. Now don't go bidding up the price. Just kidding. I'm actually waiting to se what my sister in law the estate sale queen can find since I will not be cooking on this stove for some time.

However, since dream catcher beat me to some tripples I was bidding on a couple of weeks ago, I've decided to wait and bid in the last three minutes of any auction. No use artificially inflating the price before that just to see your name on EBAY.

    Good Luck

    Frank

Yes, I am dreamcatcher2 (sorry Frank, when I was preparing my bid you were not the high bidder and had quit bidding for some time, so I thought you were finished) I have not bid on the 2 pots, but I am watching to see how far they go. I can't believe a set of triple pots went for $188 one day and $88 the next. Strange bidding. Good luck.
